Hi JK Parents!

Dr. Seuss has brightened up JK.  We loved reading about Horton, and his speck he discovered and protected.  "A person's a person, no matter how small!"

We began our week by practicing bus safety and exiting out the emergency door.  They loved this exercise with their friends.

We created Gertrude McFuzz pictures and talked about "how much is too much?"  The poor bird couldn't even fly because she wanted more and more feathers!

Literacy:
We read about the Lorax and created Lorax puppets.  Finger puppets encourage wonderful play!  "Unless someone like you cares a whole awful lot, things aren't going to get better, they"re just not!" Loved all of the suggestions about how we can take care of our planet and what will happen if we don't.

We created Sneeches and wrote rhyming words on their tummy's.  It's such a wonderful story about physical traits and following (or not) the crowd.

We made fish bowls for red fish and blue fish!

Our letter of the week was "Pp" and the children made an amazing list of "Pp" words!  We read the "Pp" book and practiced writing the letter and stamping and tracing them, being sure the lower case line travels below the "worm line".

Math & Science:

They love the game, "I Can do That".  It's a fun movement activity game with a rake and a cake and a fan and a ball and a fish and oh noooo, don't let them all fall!  The timer helped us count and keep track of how long each task could take.

We have been counting and grouping and comparing sets of similar and different things.

We completed a table after voting for wanting stars on our Sneeche's belly or not.  We love counting using tally marks.  We introduced a new game to the classroom, "Shut the Box" that some of the children have at home.  I love all different ways to practice counting.

Have a great week!
