 Hi JK Parents!

They love dressing up and fixing things!

How is it already November and Parent-Teacher Conferences?  Halloween was such a fun time and I was thrilled the children were able to sing and dance and play with their friends!

Literacy:

We are studying the author, William Steig, this week.  His books are full of magic as animals come to life and take on human qualities (Anthropomorphism!).  They have loved reading his books and have written journal pages about what they would do if they found a magic pebble with which they could make wishes like in the story, Sylvester and the Magic Pebble.  I love hearing about their kind and loving wishes for their families as well as their indulgences.  We read Brave Irene and talked about the things for which each character was thankful.

We read Pete's a Pizza and made pizzas!  The children painted their crust and sauce and then added ingredients!

Fine Motor:

We made November calendars with turkeys and decorated them with all of the things for which we are thankful, along with colorful feathers on the birds.  We have so much to be thankful for, and I love hearing all of the things, big and small, that make them happy.

Benjamin, leading the class in our Thankful poem!
Alex dancing as we follow her lead in Music and Movement class!

Art Class with Mr. Matt making patterns and then coloring them!

Dr. Glader reading Moody Cow, a favorite story, which gives the children insight to calm themselves when they are upset and frustrated.  She used a jar of glitter to symbolize worries, and how when we calm down the worries float to the bottom.

The Eiffel Tower!

We made November turkey calendars.  I sent turkeys home for you to disguise-(so they won't be eaten for Thanksgiving :) in their bags, so have fun decorating them this weekend!

The children began drawing self portraits for November.  They are all becoming more aware of their features as they use colored pencils to draw details.

We played a game called, "Yes Please and No Thank You".  We build Thanksgiving feasts as we selected different foods and either accepted them by responding, "yes please!" or, "no thank you".

Have a great weekend!
